Gregory D. Yancey, Esq., is an attorney, minister, author, and community advocate dedicated to advancing justice and serving others. A graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park, where he earned his degree with High Honors in 1995, and Georgetown University Law Center, where he graduated in 1998, Mr. Yancey has built a distinguished career in law and public service. Throughout his legal career, he has worked as an associate attorney, in-house counsel, and law firm owner. He founded The Fighting Lawyer, LLC with the mission of giving a voice to the voiceless and advocating for marginalized communities.

Inspired by his father, Ronald Yancey, who played a role in the integration of Georgia Tech University, and by his mother’s compassion for underserved populations, Gregory Yancey developed a lifelong commitment to promoting equal justice and opportunity. His legal practice spans a broad range of areas, including civil litigation, criminal defense, family law, commercial transactions, and other legal matters. He has consistently devoted significant time to both professional and volunteer efforts aimed at supporting those whose voices often go unheard while standing up against injustice and intimidation.

Beyond his legal work, Mr. Yancey has held numerous leadership positions within civic and community organizations. He is a past president of the Waring Mitchell Law Society of Howard County, a former Chair of the Social Justice Committee for The African American Community Roundtable, and a former Chair of the Political Action Committee for the Howard County NAACP. He also served the State of Maryland as Chief of Staff for the Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives, where he worked to advance programs, events, and infrastructure that ensured greater inclusion and support for communities across the state.

In addition to his legal and public service accomplishments, Mr. Yancey is the founding and senior pastor of Unyielding Light Ministries in Catonsville, Maryland. Through his ministry and community engagement efforts, he moderates town hall discussions, delivers motivational speeches, provides public testimony, and mentors individuals seeking guidance and support. When direct assistance is not possible, he is known for connecting people with valuable resources and opportunities through his extensive professional and community networks.

Above all, Gregory Yancey considers his family and faith to be his greatest blessings. He takes immense pride in his wife, Jewell, his son, Gregory, his stepdaughter, Cora, and his granddaughter, Adalynn. Guided by his faith and commitment to service, he continues to dedicate his life to justice, leadership, community empowerment, and answering what he believes to be God’s calling on his life.
