Jerell King

Jr Board Member

Jerell King is a native of Southeast Washington, D.C., whose journey with Men Impact Change exemplifies the power of mentorship, leadership, and the transformative impact of passing the baton from one generation to the next. Jerell first came to the organization’s attention through his innovative community technology project, The Insta-Laptop, which was designed to help bridge the digital divide in underserved communities. His groundbreaking work earned local television and radio coverage and won Washington, D.C. Google Science Fair in 2019 when he was just 15 years old.

That same year, Men Impact Change recognized Jerell as its inaugural Rising Star Honoree, celebrating his commitment to innovation, service, and community impact. Since receiving that honor, Jerell has remained an active collaborator and ambassador for the organization, demonstrating the long-term impact of investing in young leaders.

Jerell graduated as the Friendship Tech Prep Academy Class of 2020 Valedictorian before attending Yale University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. Following graduation, he returned to Men Impact Change to serve as a Junior Board Member, helping shape the organization’s future while mentoring and inspiring the next generation of young men.

As a young professional, innovator, and community leader, Jerell embodies Men Impact Change’s commitment to passing the baton – from being recognized as a promising young leader to returning as a Junior Board Member, mentor, and role model for others. His journey reflects the principle that “If you’re fortunate enough to do well, it’s your responsibility to send the elevator back down.” Jerell is doing exactly that.
